How it works

Formats, languages, and limits.

Everything you'd want to know before uploading your first book.

Book languages

Built for the language you're learning.

Upload a book in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Dutch, and Polish, and Litdeck reads it cover to cover, building a per-chapter inventory of its vocabulary. The source language is detected for you the moment the file is staged.

  • Every word traced back to the chapter it came from.
  • More reading languages land regularly.

Translation languages

Glossed in the language you already speak.

When you generate a deck you pick the language its sentences and translations appear in: English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Dutch, and Polish. Choose the one you know best, and only the back of each card changes.

« C'era una volta un pezzo di legno. »

English

Once upon a time there was a piece of wood.

French

Il était une fois un morceau de bois.

Spanish

Érase una vez un trozo de madera.

German

Es war einmal ein Stück Holz.

Uploading a book

EPUB and PDF, up to 50 megabytes.

Litdeck reads EPUB and PDF files. PDFs whose text you can select are read for free; a scanned book (its pages are images) can still be read for a small fee you confirm first. Other formats like MOBI aren't supported. Most books from digital stores are well under the size limit.

Limits

Up to 10,000 planned words per order.

Each generation order covers up to 10,000 planned words. Reduce a multi-chapter selection above the limit; a single long chapter keeps its 10,000 highest-priority words.

Pricing

Your first order can be free. Then pay once for each new order.

Eligible new accounts get their first generation order free. Each new generation order after that is paid once, and the finished Anki deck stays available until you delete it or close your account.

  • Common decks start at €/$0.99 and reach about €/$4.99 around 3,000 planned words. Larger approved orders cost more.
  • You see one exact, tax-inclusive EUR or USD total before payment.
  • Supported word audio is included. Scanned-PDF OCR is a separate, near-cost read charge.
  • There are no subscriptions, credits, artificial expiry, feature tiers, or paid priority.
  • Each generated word gives you recognition and production study directions in Anki. Definitions are not included.
See the exact deck-price formula

Deck price in cents is 99 plus the result of (400 × planned words + 1,500) ÷ 3,000, rounded down to a whole cent. Litdeck uses the same curve for euros and US dollars, then fixes your exact tax-inclusive total before payment.
